Description
The drone is positioned exactly above the coastline, and that vantage point changes everything: the cove becomes an almost abstract figure, a gulf of colour set into the rock. At the head of the inlet, a pale beach edged with parasols; then the water, turquoise over the sand, green above the shallows, almost black as soon as depth takes over. The white boats, aligned at their moorings, trace a regular script across the surface. All around, the island shows its substance: limestone headlands, hills covered with pines, a road winding down to the sea, villas and their pools clinging to the slope. The summer light flattens the shadows and gives the whole the sharpness of a map. It is an image without a horizon, in which the gaze plunges rather than extends — and in which the sea, seen from high enough, becomes once more a simple gradation of blues.
