Directly above Miami Beach, the drone photograph reveals what the stroller never sees: the geometry of seaside leisure. Each concession has arranged its parasols and sun loungers in regular grids — a red-and-white block, a blue block, a yellow-and-green chequerboard, a pink square — so many territories in bold colours, separated by lanes of bare sand. At the top of the frame, the ocean answers with its own logic: a band of almost unreal green, hemmed with foam, where a few bathers form dark dots. Between the two, the shoreline, flecked with seaweed, serves as a natural border to this almost painterly composition. The image is at once inventory and abstract painting: it documents a very real organisation of the American seafront, while reducing it to what it is when seen from above — colour laid on sand.
