Description
Directly above the ocean, near Arcachon, sand and water compose a work that no one drew. Each tide sculpts these undulations anew: channels of deep water wind between pale banks, the sea-green shifts from celadon to darkness with the depth, and the light makes the surface glitter like silver grain. Only the small boat, resting on the edge of the shadow, recalls that this landscape is real — and that it is immense. Taken by drone, the photograph seeks the tipping point where landscape becomes abstraction — the first of a series of three, each a different state of the same shifting matter.
